[PD] relative paths with mrpeach [midifile] in abstraction

Is there some way to modify mrpeach [midifile] so that it will correctly handle relative paths while it's in an abstraction? I notice that soundfiler does this.

Bascially, I have a wrapper around midifile but it assumes given relative paths are relative to the wrapper patch and not the parent patch.
