this should have read:
$ cpp -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I.. -DZEXY_LIBRARY -g -O2 -mms-bitfields
0x2e.c -fPIC -DPIC

(that is: i want to see the output of the preprocessor).

which version of gcc are you using?
