afaik, Pd-vanilla [sic!] on *Debian* is patched so that it uses
alsa-midi by default.

@miller: i think this is along the lines of our recent discussion that
we should have a flag to turn OFF each feature that we can turn ON via
cmdline flags. please add an "-ossmidi" flag.

even better would be to have a flag "-midiapi <API>" and make <API> to
be either "oss" or "alsa" or "portmidi" (or "pm") or whatever.
