become a member of a debian packaging team (like  
debian-multimedia-maintainers¹), read the Debian New Maintainer's  
guide² and your team's code-of-conduct and get going :-)
ideally, become a Debian Maintainers or Debian Developer :-)

PS: both hans and me are DDs in the d-m-m team, so can - time  
permitting - help with uploading the package (obviously i can only  
speak for myself)
