[PD] (GEM) JPEG rendering question

Hi there,

I'm working on a jpeg glitch abstraction that has a GEM "preview" window: you do your modifications on the file and the (glitched) result appears in the GEM window just after the glitched file has been saved to disk. I'm noticing a substancial difference between the file displayed by GEM and the (very same) file displayed by aperçu (mac's default image viewer) or pixelmator for instance (The gimp seems to give the same results than GEM). I was wondering what causes this difference of rendering (different codecs ?) and if there was a way to control how GEM renders JPEG.

I may also add that, when I open these files in aperçu, they seem to apear like in GEM, but, less than half a second later, the picture turns into something quite different, usually more colorfull and more interesting.

Thanks in advance for your help,

D.S
