I can :) - I hadn't read far enough down the original mail to see that this
is indeed a Pd vanilla bug - no externs at all.  This might be very helpful
as I've heard varios things about GOP trouble I can't get to the bottom of.
I'll give it a look next time I can regain sanity for a few minutes.
