Thank you for your enlightment

in the new version of Gem how do I clear the buffer in single buffer mode?
if I send a bang top new [gemwin] I get the message in Pd window:

*error: TODO: implement bang render*
the problem is that sometimes when I create a new window it comes up full
of glitch and I need to make it black before I start drawing.

I am using

xubuntu 14.04
[AMD/ATI] Seymour [Radeon HD 6400M/7400M Series] with the open-source
drivers (I can't get the proprietary drivers to work)
GEM: ver: 0.93.git 1d4d372

thank you for any feedback possible

Mick
