Sony too has an official website where you can unlock the bootloader,
but you are trading in the warranty.
I am using cyanogenmod11 on a sony phone.

It can be quite complicated to compare all the features of all the
different brands to find the perfect phone you want. For example I
wanted a GLONASS receiver, NFC and an exchangeable battery for under
300 EUR. I found geizhals a great (but ugly) portal to filter
available options based on your criteria.
