Ok, I finally figured it out, I guess. When I do:

./configure --enable-jack --disable-portaudio

and then do 'make' I get a binary in <pd>/src/pd that is _not_ linked
against libjackXXX. However, when I do only:

./configure --enable-jack

the resulting binary is in <pd>/src/.libs/pd which is linked against
jack libraries. Also, <pd>/src/pd is only a shell script.

Can anyone confirm this behavior or is it specific to my box?
