[PD] Arduino trouble on Mac

Hi everyone,
I am working on a expanded hurdy-gurdy for a musician from around here.
The rotation of the handle controls the speed of a video. It works ok on
my windows machine, but I can't get it to run on the Mac it's supposed
to run on eventually.
The Mac is a Power Book Pro running Mac OSX 10.6.8
I installed Pd extended 0.43.4
I installed the brand new Arduino IDE 1.6
I tried with different Arduino boards (Uno and Leonardo) and different
sketches. In any case [comport] does not receive anything.
In the Arduino IDE the serial monitor works.
Firmata/[Arduino] do not work.
My homebrew protocol doesn't work either.
I don't think it's a matter of selecting the proper COM port. I used the
same one in the IDE and in Pd extended and just in case I did check the
other ports too!
The computer has been restarted several times as well.
Is there something I'm missing here?
Are there dependencies I should check?
Is there something to upgrade manually?
Are there some kind of preferences, policies or security settings to tweak?
Thank you very much for you help!
Cheers
Pierre-Olivier
