[PD] Less CPU Expensive Tips & Resources?

I've been trying to find ways to "trim the fat" off my patches in PD lately, and I was wondering if there are any good resources for this?  

For instance, I read in part of Miller Puckette's book that a multiply object will always be less expensive than a division object...
I'm wondering also if send and receive objects are more or less expensive than catch and throw or just direct connections?
But mostly I'm looking for online resources or threads that talk about things I might not be thinking of at all that will cut down on CPU usage...
Any links or tips you want to share in this thread would be greatly appreciated!
