[PD] Live Data Stream as Generative Source

Hi all, 
I am looking to use a live data source (user submitted information) to generate music(pure sine tones). This is quite a task, and rather then a step by step guide(unless you offer...;)) I would like some resources (youtube videos/articles) that deal with patch examples and syntax in this area.  I am assuming it has to do with passing information into an array to later be read back -  I am not to sure, I am a fledgling Pure Data user. My grasp of the language is basic, but I am focusing in this area so don't hold back on highlighting the technical difficulties and where I must invest my studies! 
p.s you'll see a few more posts from me because I am also using video source to control acoustic parameters - if you have knowledge of this and can include any links for resources in this area as a side note, that would be awesome. 
Any help greatly appreciated,
