no gui: simple start Pd with "-nogui".
no gem window? not so simple (mainly because Gem assumes to be bound to
openGL which requires/required a window in most cases).
no visible Gem window? simple enough, just create it outside of the
vidible desktop and make sure you can't move it back in with tryick
mouse fiddling:
