Thanks! Would this solution also work with backwards sample playback
(decreasing table indices) by the way?

That could be very helpful! There are so many people who might profit of
cleaner long table playback who might not be able to understand
B16.long-varispeed.pd to a point where they can modify it to fit their
own needs.
