are you sure?
my impression is, that Pd can parse any labels with backslash-escaped
spaces just fine (see attached patch with a canvas with a label with
spaces, which works nicely on my Pd-0.47-1 as packaged in Debian).

the only problem occurs when you try to save such patches.
