[PD] pd-0.48 OSX 10.8.5 right click not working

It means the newer build with TK 8.5 may not work well on older systems like yours. We probably need to, unfortunately, release builds with Tk 8.4 for older systems and TK 85 for newer (probably 10.9+).

That command opened the GUI using Tk 8.4 on your system as a test.
