the idea was, that unplugging the camera (and crashing Pd) would be less
obtrusive than having to power-cycle your computer.
i'm not sure what you mean by "switches off" though...

anyhow, for starters you could try to confirm whether you are seeing
something similar as https://github.com/umlaeute/Gem/issues/192
