Thank you for your patient and excellent explanation of what I should already have understood after all these years of coding with Pd!

I think I started using this pattern a while back without realizing its danger. It works fine with small amounts of data (i.e. as long as the stack can absorb the punishment).

I've switched my patch to use [until], and it works great. Thanks again.
