[PD] else/dir: different behaviour between Debian and Ubuntu

The same with me. I lack the skills to be of any help. Don't worry
about me, though. I come along with absolute paths thanks to
[pdcontrol]. 

Can you actually reproduce it? Do you have access to Debian or
Raspbian? Frankly, I only tested Debian 10 and Raspbian 10 (current
stable release).
