[PD] restrict "find externals" to exact matches

I think it's pretty related, though :) we're talking about finding matches,
matching specifically to externals, but there's this issue where there are
some stuff there missing to be found and I think we should also improve
that so it all makes better sense. But tell me what you think I should do,
open a ticket to deken? Open a new thread?
