[PD] Start Pd 0.51-4 without internet connection

seems to indicate, that this is on mac.
not wanting to allege anything, but there once was a hack to the hostconfig file to prevent a pirated copy of adobe from phoning home.
i´ve had people in workshops, who were unable to launch pd because they had applied this hack overzealous and nuked localhost altogether.

@maurice, i´d suggest to use finder to navigate to /etc (go to folder) and look up the host file.
on my mac mojave it looks like this:
