No distro package needed.

Have you used deken? It's a packaging tool that comes with puredata.
>From the main puredata window go to 'Help' and select 'Find externals'.
It's not obvious. But from there you can get all of the libraries and they
will be installed in your user directory instead of the root dir on Linux.
