Also note that there's a bit of compat wrapper in <https://github.com/pure-data/pure-data/blob/master/tcl/pdtcl_compat.tcl>

So if you only need some basic `dict` functionality, you might just find it there for "all supported" versions (that is: is those wrappers don't work, then pd-gui is probably not working anyhow)
