[PD] [OT] linux on old laptop?

hi,

i got an old 486, 16mhz, 4mb ram, 300mb HD, floppy, serial, parallel. and i would like to install linux & pd on that to control midi & serial port.

is this machine fast enough for realtime midi & serial ?

are there any floppy distributions of linux where pd works ?
(DON'T need audio&video, only serial and midi. and GUI)

ps. does some1 use EES PC-Midi2/4 (parallerport) midicontroller with linux?
