hmmm, don't know, a lot of people seem to get along with it the way it is.
Anyway, i'm just about to redesign VASP to be fully Python-based (but 
generally backwards-compatible), which means that all the Python 
facilities of number-crunching (numarray, scipy) and file i/o will be 
available. Absolutely non-crackling, that's a goal too.
