after a tiny bit of going googling and looking at the mailman configu, i
found that this is actually very simple, and only requires me to enable
it with a single click.

the attachments would be inlined at the end of the emails like the
following:

-------------- next part --------------
A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
Name: uDMX.dll
Type: application/x-msdownload
Size: 12560 bytes
Desc: not available
URL:
<http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/attachments/20090630/a1fd2dc0/attachment.bin>

which would of course require a bit of thinking on the downloader's
side: any mailclient/browser would try to download the file as
"attachment.bin" and they would have to rename it manually to "uDMX.dll"
(or whatever the "Name" really is)

i haven't found a way to enable this for certain mime-types only (or
disable it for e.g. text/*)
so for Pd-patches i get depending on the senders mime-settings:

-------------- next part --------------
An embedded and charset-unspecified text was scrubbed...
Name: color-track.pd
URL:
<http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/pd-list/attachments/20090628/0e8e5829/attachment-0001.asc>

or

or something else.

but then i really think it is not such a bad idea to enable this feature.
any other opinions?
