[GEM-dev] pix_coordinate example crashes with curve3d

There must be something wrong with either your checkout or CVS because 
the fix I committed does work.  In fact, it just checks for what the 
workaround does.  Again, the problem is not with curve3d but with 
pix_coordinate.
