I personally think implementing db connections into Pd is a waste of
time, when we have Python and Ruby available in Pd. Of course that
should not stop anyone from still doing it, cause in some regard, Pd
is all about wasting time.

Databases are slow and most probably not realtime save, so some kind
of threading would be useful. Pd needs faster guaranteed response
times than a website.

Many people really don't want to code SQL directly anymore, unless
force is applied. Object-oriented wrappers are everywhere now. (though
it is debatable if OO-wrappers would match Pd's message system very
well.)

All of these features are available in Python and Ruby directly. I
don't know Ruby, but for Python SQLObject would be worth a try, at
least, that's what I'm using for years now to do website (I wrote the
first Sqlite driver for SQLObject so I may be biased.) Threads are
easy an very secure in Python as well, though threads can be hard to
get right in regard to data bases.

Ciao
