hello ^_^
thanks for replying so fast !

zikaa> -------
zikaa> |r foo|
zikaa> =------
zikaa> |
zikaa> =---------------------
zikaa> |text $1 $2 $3 $4 $5 (
zikaa> =---------------------
zikaa> |
zikaa> =--------
zikaa> |text2d |
zikaa> =--------

the problem is this is the scheme i used first before the headaches
start, and it does not work at all
the only feedback i got from the console is
"error: $1: argument number out of range" !?!
here is a simplified patch i made for my tests :

#N canvas 514 109 452 302 12;
#X obj 15 47 t b b b;
#X msg 118 77 read xxxxs.adr;
#X obj 15 136 textfile;
#X msg 57 78 rewind;
#X msg 15 78 bang;
#X obj 15 186 s target;
#X msg 15 13 bang;
#X obj 165 134 r target;
#X msg 165 170 text \$1;
#X obj 53 161 print test;
#X connect 0 0 4 0;
#X connect 0 1 3 0;
#X connect 0 2 1 0;
#X connect 1 0 2 0;
#X connect 2 0 5 0;
#X connect 2 0 9 0;
#X connect 3 0 2 0;
#X connect 4 0 2 0;
#X connect 6 0 0 0;
#X connect 7 0 8 0;

and it doesn't work T_T

for the xxxxs.adr, it's a simple one line text file wich can be
- a single IP adress
"128.0.0.1"
- or the solved name if possible, then the IP
"superman.is.strong [128.0.0.1]"

zikaa> miller,
zikaa> how about enabling a
zikaa> =----
zikaa> |$0 (
zikaa> =----
zikaa> which will output the whole list ?

indeed it would be useful, but actually i even can't output one single
$1 !
