a week or two ago there's been a DMX thread on the MAX/msp list. You might 
want to check the archives at cycling74. I think the final note was that 
Fokko van Duin (LanBox creator) released a set of DMX examples, available 
at http://www.lanbox.com/downloads/ - maybe that could be a starting point 
for some pd equivalents.
