[PD] gem questions/ notes...

Hi all.

I want to recompile GEM for Linux -- for general hacking purposes-- but
had some problems... first I could only download the IRIX-packaged
source from the website... and then after endless makefile tweaks to fix
it up the new Gem library has linking problems, i.e. can't load in PD. 
Is there some other place to get GEM packaged correctly for Linux (it's
not on the main Gem download page??)
