[PD] windows xp , pd .35 test 24 , cpu overload .

I can make a guess: it could be that the select() call is returning instantly
instead of sleeping as it should.  This is what happens for -nogui on W2K,
and perhaps it happens all the time on XP.

Maybe I have to go install XP on a machine somewhere...  yuck!
