[PD] [random] - how it works?

Hello all,

I'm revising the HELP document which accompanies [random].

Can somebody tell me how the object generates numbers? Is it based on a fractal or some other quadratic equation? What is the default seed and how is it chosen/determined? Is it based on the computer's clock somehow? If a seed is provided at the right inlet, which variable in the equation does it define?

By the way: I've revised the "operators.pd" and "otherbinops.pd" files...available at http://www.davesabine.com/media/puredata.asp?action=downloads along with my other HELP documents.

Regards,
Dave Sabine.
