[PD] GEM (win32) avi files and sizes

Hi,

I'm playing with GEM and the pix_film and pix_movie objects.

Some .avi files load, and some don't. Am I correct to assume that in theory gem should play any avi that mediaplayer is capable of playing?

I'm trying to load a few large-ish .avi files; they load fine (the open message answers back with the number of frames in the console) but attempting to play crashes PD. Is there an upper-limit on file sizes? How can I infer how large I can make my source movies safely?
