[PD] can vst~ receive midi messages from a plugin?

The VST spec does I believe support midi out - Cubase SX has got the concept

of midi plugins and I think that you can do these as VST's. 

I doubt I bothered conecting up the midi outs when I was working on VST~
'cos I would never have used them so unless someone else has...

Hi Eric,
my version of vst~ can't and i don't even know if this is supported by the
VST specfication.
Any examples of plugins that send MIDI to the host?
