They're very similar. The MSP component of MAX is PD. PD is licensed with
a BSD license, which means you can create your own product without
releasing the source code. That's what Apple did with OSX and Cycling74
with Max/MSP. Now, do we prefer to play with a ready-made software that
will always hide how it's made, or work with a free software that shows 
us everything? The choice is simple enough...
