[PD] audio gets "scratchy"

please always tells us about your setup.  (we should have a "bug report 
submital" form on the website tyhat has these questions)

what os?
what version of pd?
what sound driver?
what settings on your sound driver?

i get "scratchy" sound when my cpu pegs (i have a nasty bug in my 
performance setup which causes cpu pegging sometimes, i havnt been able 
to track it down yet and its driving me bonkers)
