hmmm .. I'm not sure I understand but for pattern sequencing you could
take a look at jass -> http://test.pilot.fm/pd/patches/jass/
If I understand correctly the playback already works right ? 
Frank's rrradical (sp?) stuff could also be helpfull.

jass requires zexy (should be in there) and maxlib's dist dunno if that's
in the installer though.
