There should be a DirectX icon in the Windows Control Panel. At least 
there used to be. Then if it's not immediately obvious what the version 
is, look under help-About. Sorry I'm not booting Win right now so I 
can't take a look. If it's not there, System Properties is probably a 
good place to look.
