Sorry about the delay, Im trying to get the voulentary-preemption kernel
working...

Here is my configure output:
FTGL support: yes
GLTT support: no
libmpeg3 support: yes
libquicktime support: yes
aviplay support: yes
libdv support: yes

I rebuilt my FTGL to include -fPIC and now I get a different (but similar)
error when I try to build gem:

g++ -o Gem.pd_linux -shared ../Manips/*.o ../Particles/*.o ../Base/*.o ../MarkEx/*.o ../Pixes/*.o ../Controls/*.o ../Nongeos/*.o ../Geos/*.o ../openGL/*.o  -laviplay -lftgl -ldv -lmpeg3 -lquicktime -laviplay -lpng -ljpeg -ltiff -lGLU -lGL -lXext -lXxf86vm -lXext -lX11 -ldl -lz -lm   -L/usr/X11R6/lib64 -lfreetype -lz
/usr/bin/ld: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/3.4.1/libstdc++.a(ios_init.o): relocation R_X86_64_32 can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/3.4.1/libstdc++.a: could not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [Gem.pd_linux] Error 1

libstdc++-3.4.1-10.x86_64.rpm made the source compile finaly.

I still get the following messages:

pix_texture: not using client storage - with video clips

I can see no movie files being played despite not getting error messages
(except)
mpeg3video_seek: frame accurate seeking without a table of contents
is no longer supported. Use mpeg3toc <mpeg file> <table of contents>
to generate a table of contents and load the table of contents instead.

do video for this OS - even though I have video built into the kernel:
http://www.aproximation.org/application/kernel-2.6.9-rc3.config
(though I have no video camera pluged in)

Gem has been compiled without FONT-support ! - I can see no fonts

Any idea on how to get these things working?

Thanks for the help and the software in the first place!
