[PD] pdp_xv can't create

I wrote the list last night with PiDiP compilation issues. They were 
resolved with an older ffmpeg that magically appeared on Yves' site today ;)

Now I've got more issues. I try to open a pdp_xv and get this message:

pdp_xv: cant open display :0

I searched the archives and only see an instance of this with OSX... So 
I tried pdp_glx, which created a window for a split second, then crashed 
PD and spat this to terminal:

X Error of failed request:  BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)

This is with an ATI X300, running the generic VESA driver since ATI 
hasn't released the X.Org driver yet.. grrr.... glxinfo yields the
