if youre not into soldering, behringer lc2412 is one possible solution, 512 DMX channels + midi In/Out + 30 faders and 40 buttons which send MIDI (and DMX)... its dirt cheap too, at about 1/10th the price of ones marketed as "DAW Controllers" or what have you...only downsides are its about as big as 3 17" powerooks stacked on top of eachother...
