[PD] newbie: can GEM output to a file?

Hi,

I'm still a newbie.
I'm creating some patches using GEM on OS X and would like to save some 
as video files for later use or manipulation.
Is it possible to save some period of time of a patch as a video file? 
What objects should I be looking at?
