[PD] simple annoyance in OS X

Hi. Just a quick OS X annoyance Im trying to sort out. Ive installed PD 
in /usr/local/lib/pd. All runs fine but if i want to open a patch that 
is in say /usr/local/lib/pd/examples/ from within pd  using file open  
I cant see the folder usr. I used tinker tool so I can see the folder 
from finder but I cant see it from with in PD.

Is there a fix for this.
