That's strange: They don't reset permissions here. I suspect you are
using some automatically generated /dev-filesystem then, like udev.
I'm still using "hard" devices. But also udev should be able to give
devices certain permissinons. I think, it's supposed to save the last
permissions on reboot, but maybe you are running something else than
udev?
