[PD] pd jack / usb problems

greetings list,
When I run PD under linux using an edirol UA25 and Jack, I get some pretty
nasty noises every time i switch windows. When I do the same thing in
Windows (sans jack), I don't get this problem. I've tried running pd with
alsa but that doesn't work. I do have a 16 bit pci soundcard installed.
Would removing that help? Or how would I edit my alsa configuration to
remove the PCI card and just use USB? the alsa configurator program doesn't
make any mention of the USB device.
