which [matrix~] ? (there are 2: one in cyclone, one in zexy/iemmatrix)
the [mtx_*~] (successor of [matrix~] in iemmatrix) should be way faster, 
esp. when the matrices stay fixed. (which they do most of the times 
except in special applications)
