Artist - Scholar

The Department of Music at the University of California, San Diego is
seeking an artist or artist/scholar with an established reputation whose
work will complement and diversify the range of contemporary creative
practices explored by the existing faculty. Preference may be given to
intermedia artists working with interactive/performative technology or in
areas related to sound art and/or improvisation. The successful candidate
must engage effectively in a discourse on new media and culture and will
join the Department of Music's graduate area in Integrative Studies.

In addition to conducting research, supervising graduate students, and
offering innovative graduate courses, this person will contribute to the
undergraduate curriculum and fulfill normal service duties appropriate to
the position. Applicants should have a terminal degree (M.F.A., D.M.A. or
Ph.D.) in an art, music, or science-related discipline and either a
successful record of university-level teaching appropriate to rank or
commensurate professional experience.

This position has been approved up to the rank of Associate Professor.
However, especially promising artists or artist/scholars in the early stages
of their career will be given full consideration and are strongly encouraged
to apply.

facilities, and is in the process of moving into a new music center
