"stack underflow" is an exceedingly rare error message; perhaps more rare
than the actual error, which afaik is never checked for.

do you mean "stack overflow" instead?

is there anything else in the error message?

what kind of crash? if this makes the pd error messages disappear, try
using "pd -stderr" from a terminal. error messages will be in the
terminal.
