It's an OpenGL subsystem in 3DP. In GEM the moral equivalent is nearly all 
the non-pix object-classes, whereas in GridFlow the moral equivalent is 
the [gf/gl] class.

However, I don't know what are 3DP's practical advantages and 
disadvantages, as I haven't tried it yet.
